The EU summit agreed on the largest budget and financial recovery package in the history of the EU. Over the next seven years, a total of €1.8 trillion will ensure that European countries survive the consequences of the corona pandemic as unscathed as possible. Visable CEO Peter F. As a European digital company, we particularly welcome the EU's decision to link the allocation of funds to the commitment to climate protection and digitalisation projects. The coronavirus crisis has pushed efforts to combat climate change into the background, but the challenges for us and coming generations have by no means disappeared. Furthermore, COVID-19 has shown us all that digitalisation is a lifesaver for many companies in times of crisis. At the same time, the exceptional global situation has been a catalyst for digital progress. Now, we have to build on this and make the best possible use of financial resources. It is important that the allocation of these funds is handled in an uncomplicated manner and that it can be carried out without major bureaucratic hurdles. SMEs in particular are dependent on short-term support, because for many, every day, that the crisis lasts, counts.
German chancellor Angela Merkel and French president Emmanuel Macron joined forces in the negotiations as a Franco-German alliance for a strong Europe.
